Last optirisk® workshop completed in Portland

2nd to 5th November 2011: Well-equipped project leader Dr. K. Roselt and our urban planning project partner, Mr. Ingo Quaas, flew to Portland resp. Troutdale to present the stage of work of our model project and to develop the Integrated Site Development Concept for the model site of a municipal wastewater treatment plant and a contaminated former rendering plant together with the City of Troutdale.
At first, the worked out conflict analysis was presented for the 4 site development concepts, which in turn were chosen in a ranking within the workshop in July. The representatives of the City have been involved in the evaluation of the urban planning development concepts. In the frame of the workshop intensive discussions about the concepts came up, also with regard to the detailed cost estimations for active defense and property exposure for the 4 variants.
Concept C, chosen for further project process and prognostic implementation, will be adapted to perceptions of the City within next working steps now. Within following last project stage the concept will be subjected to a further optimization. Costs for clearance of open space, demolition and soil clean-up will be configured with the reconstruction in a way that the costs for removal of contaminations are as low as possible even so the urban planning as well as the ecological targets can be achieved. The picture shows the workshop in Portland City.
The work on that specific site development will lead to preparation of the optirisk® guideline (Optimization of Site Development Concepts for ecological burdened Sites) for an application in the USA.
Mr. Jim Kight, mayor of the City of Troutdale, made positive and pleased comments on the results of the workshop. optirisk® enormously helped on the City within the process of revitalization of the brownfield, both as a vision and in real economic regard.
